Airbrushes
Badger Air brushesBadger brushes are the choice of bird carvers of all skill levels. We stock an extensive selection of airbrushes, parts and accessories.
Iawata Air brushesIawata Air brushes are considered by many to be the finest airbrushes available today, Iwata airbrushes have set a new standard in precision and reliability. We stock four different Iwata models. We would also be pleased to provide a quote on any Iwata brush that we do not stock. Every Iwata airbrush we stock has a dual-purpose, cutaway and pre-set handle for easy clean-up and precise paint flow control. They all use teflon needle packing, permitting use of automotive and other solventbased paints if desired. Their gravity-feed colour cups are redesigned to ensure easier cleanup and better paint flow. They also incorporate a single-piece auxiliary lever/needle-chucking guide for easy assembly.
Paasche Model AB Air BrushThe Paasche AB is designed for advanced and more experienced airbrush artists. It's unique turbine action gives unequalled detail for exceptionally fine lines and dots. The AB is the choice of the world's top professional bird carvers, and is featured in many of the advanced painting articles in Wildfowl Carving Magazine. No other brush performs like the AB - but it's not a beginner's brush. If you're just getting started in airbrushing, we recommend the Iwata HP-B Plus. Hose sold separately. Supplied with hanger, screwdriver, wrench, tweezers, & storage case.

They represent good value and will have a long useful life if cared for properly.
Paint
Jo Sonja AcrylicsUsed by many of the world's best carvers, Jo Sonja's paints differ from regular acrylics in several ways. First, they are an acrylic gouache (pronounced "gwash"), meaning they are somewhat more opaque than other acrylics. Second, they are not shiny like other acrylics. They give a suede matte finish for lifelike plumage on bird carvings or a pleasing finish on flat surfaces. Gloss can be increased by adding gloss varnish directly to the paint. They are one of the most economical paints around. I recommend that you get a few of the mediums, especially the flow medium and retarding medium. Jo Sonja's paints will mix with other brands of acrylic paints so you can pick up a few tubes and work into them gradually.
Chroma Airbrush ColorsChroma airbrush paints have been specifically designed for air brush use by wildlife carvers. The colours are ideally suited for bird plumage and other earthy colours found in nature. Pre-diluted to be used directly in your airbrush (some colours may require slight dilution). The flip top bottles allow you to place a few drops directly into the reservoir of any air brush - very convenient. Chroma airbrush paints use the same pigments, finish, and quality as Jo Sonja's colours, so Jo Sonja's and Chroma airbrush paints are fully compatible. All colours are supplied in 60ml (2 oz) bottles.
Absolute Matte PaintsMade by the same company that makes Jo Sonja's paints. Atelier Absolute Matte paints are a professional-grade acrylic paint that are unlike any other paint in history. They feature an exceptional pigment load; they have a much longer open (working) time on the palette because they don't skin over when drying (they dry from the bottom up); they can be thinned to delicate washes without breaking down; they dry to a flat matte surface, yet provide vivid, brilliant colour with minimal colour shift while drying. They are compatable with Jo Sonja's paints, so you can try a tube or two as you need to replace colours.
ChromaColour Wildlife PaintsChromaColour Wildlife paints are a professional quality, highly pigmented acrylic-base paint, specifically formulated for painting wildlife subjects. ChromaColour paints contain more pigment than any other paint we've ever used, for intense colours and unsurpassed coverage. Because they use a different type of base than other acrylic paints they don't darken near as much when drying compared to other acrylics. Used exclusively by some of the world's top carvers, including world-champion Glen McMurdo. ChromaColour paints dry to a smooth matte finish and can be combined with other brands of acrylic paints (like Jo Sonja's). ChromaColour's extreme white is the most opaque white available, for incredible coverage. ChromaColour also makes several colours that are not available from Jo Sonja's (like Cerulean blue, Vandyke brown, Mars black, and Ivory black). When diluted with ChromaColour's new airbrush fluid these paints perform exceptionally well in an airbrush. They cost a bit more per bottle than other paints, but with their high pigment load they go alot further, so they are still very economical. All colours are supplied in 60ml (2 oz) bottles.
Iridescent PowdersIridescent Powders - This is the best thing made for that metallic iridescent sheen on many birds. Each set contains 11 different colors. A little of this stuff goes a long way. HINT: Mix with transparent paint washes (acrylic or oil). Shows best over dark colors (black or dark brown). Now available in 2 different sized sets - the small set is a great way to try them out; the large set will last most carvers a long time.
